The Legend

This isn't shoe related, but sometimes I think about things that aren't shoe related...

Flight Of The Conchords is one of my all-time favourite TV Shows - I just can't get enough. If you don't know it, SHAME ON YOU! Check it out here and here.

One of the funny-men is Rhys Darby, aka Murray. He was recently interviewed by The Vine - I particularly love this part

"The guys wanted to finish after the first season, but we didn’t know it was going to become as big and popular as it did – we feel like we’re surrounded by fans. It’s a bit like in Return of the Jedi, you know, when C-3PO got caught in that net by the little Ewoks and they made him into this idol. [laughs] A bit like that. It’s all very confusing."

Puss In Boots

In summer, the obvious choice in footwear is thongs and sandals. The occasional sneaker will feature and for nighttime, the strappy high heel. But otherwise, other styles of shoe don’t receive much attention.

Summer festivals are here to stay; a new one pops up every summer. The obvious choice would be thongs, but what about protecting your feet?

Chain Mail

Toby Jones is a hands down genius. I love a good chain and fingerless gloves every now and again, but Toby Jones has taken two almost unwearable elements and created a truly amazing garment that explains why I love fashion.

This is a wearable piece of art, it says a lot about your personality, and would be the finishing touch to any truly Melbourne outfit.

Check out more of his work here.

Additionally, Toby Jones created these chain sneakers for Ksubi for a charity auction. Not for the faint-hearted, but ultra cute.

Moving On

So I have realised my dream and I'm moving on from marketing into a new phase. The sunny streets of Melbourne welcome me with inspiring light and sounds, from next week I'll have a lot more time to post and I'll be able to make use of my lovely wardrobe, wear heels more while I explore the world.

ambitions and dreaming for 2009

I've been thinking a lot the past few days about my life and where I am headed. I've worked in marketing and PR for a few years and my heart just isn't in it. I don't enjoy it anymore, and when I studied this subject at university, I didn't realise where I'd end up. Being passionate is a huge part of my life; whether its fashion, boys or work, I need to feel a huge passion to find it enjoyable.

Looking back - the past few years feel like a numb ride through a world of ikea and big name brands. I find myself struggling: being part of the norm versus being myself. But to define myself becomes harder and harder the more I submit to the digital marketing industry and agency life.

I've always loved hospitality and fashion; I still enjoy working in hospitality, but my body is taking the toll of working 9-5 and 5-5, there is too much of a shock, the body clock is whack. So I have to make a decision.

The threat of leaving the industry is that I 'might not be able to go back'. But I doubt this; it's a concern of course, but a) is it really true and b) do I actually care? I never wanted to work in an agency being an Account Manager. I always wanted to do more, have more responsibility and make a difference.

I've been considering studying to become a Sommelier, as I've always had a huge interest in wine and hospitality and when I've worked in fine dining, I thrived. Of course fashion writing is a passion, but I'm not sure it's what I want to do right now. I'm enjoying going out and meeting people and the bar lifestyle, so I think I should embrace it... I'm not an office person, I don't do 9-5, I'm going to move on and create a different life for myself.

Singing and Dancing

I bought these shoes for myself a few days ago and wore them on New Years Eve. Not a typical New Years Eve for me, I had to work (I work in a bar as well as fulltime in Marketing). I decided it'd be fun to dress up, so I wore a circus girl outfit complete with hoola hoop and red shiny leggings (from AA, I feel a bit dirty for saying that, but they do good basics).

(shoes are from Siren)
