Put on your dancing shoes!!
Just when you thought Repetto had collaborated all it could, the iconic dance brand celebrated its 60th anniversary back in October by tapping 60 fashion figures—from Marc Jacobs and Helmut Lang to Brigitte Bardot and Kirsten Dunst—to design ballet slippers, jazz or pointe shoes, or tutus. The collection went on the road as a traveling exhibition, 30 pieces of which just landed at Chelsea’s Max Lang Gallery today. The Proenza Schouler duo dressed a pair of Zizi lace-ups in crushed gold silk, Catherine Deneuve added a pink tulle touch to classic flats, and Comme des Garçons’ Rei Kawakubo dipped the blithe fabric in black, white, and sky blue to trim a procession of artful tutus. Pirouette your way there while you can because the collection is on to Bergdorf Goodman’s window on January 15th, then London, Montreal, and abroad, before culminating in an auction in Paris to benefit the United Nations-partnered Repetto Foundation that supports dance schools in Brazil, South Africa, and Cuba.
